Welsh Carthen

Pure wool antique Welsh carthen. Woven around 1920 , a traditional Carthen with fringes on two long sides to aid drape.

A reverse twill from Carmarthenshire in a heavy 2 ply yarn and classic plaid design. 

Undyed Cream ground with a two and two reversed twill in zig zag bands. Bright contrasting colours of Madder Red , Peppermint Green , Charcoal Black with detailing in Daffodil Yellow. Candy cane fringes of Charcoal twisted with Cream amongst the solid colours. 

Machined sides. 

Measures 82" x 70" ( 210cm x 180cm ) plus the fringes.
