Swansea Patchwork.
I love these bold frame patchworks from South Wales. Using up left over & worn out fabrics to cover a blanket. A utility bedcover that documents its era in fabric form.
This one clearly documents two very different eras: one side is very Victorian with floral Chintzs & Black glazed Cotton frame . With fairly primative Red stitching displaying best on these radiatiing black frames. The other side shows bright & bold florals from 1930s & 40s with frameworks in Oranges & Fuschia Pinks , Greens & Blues.
It is a heavy quilt containing a blanket or possibly another quilt inside. In sound condition. Could probably benefit from a professional clean in places, particularly round the edges on the `30s side.Nothing major.
It will make a bold statement & proper Welsh accent in the right setting. Teamed with crisp white linen atop an arts & crafts Oak bed.
