Ceredigion Carthenn

In unused ( but not unmarked) condition. This beautiful C19th carthenni have been languishing in a coffer for decades. 

Pure wool , woven on a narrow width loom in two pieces and sewn together. Finished with fringes on all four sides.

An undyed ground of Natural Cream with vertical zig zag bands running the length of the cloth in Bright Pink and scarlet with Black. border designs on the fringes sides in repeated zig zag bands of : Bitter Chocolate, Scarlet & Black.

Hand woven with all the slubs & knots that come with that. A sprinkling of minor darns ( from storage) and one or two very minor marks. Still stiff with lanolin.

measure 80" x 72" ( 205cm x 185cm) plus the fringes

Will cover asingle to the floor or doubles comfortably.
