Early Twentieth Century Caernarfon tapestry.
An early Twentieth Century Caernarfon tapestry in bright bold colours: Stone ground with Spearmint Green, Black & Rose Pink ( Cochineal). mixes of yarns creating tonal hues.
Woven in the 1920s in North Wales using John Williams recently modified draft. Hand sewn selvedges & newly re blanket stitched warp ends in Black yarn.
A fabulous welsh room statement in excellent sound antique condition. A couple of neatly executed darns , vague dye bleed in the right light from the Cochineal & a couple of minor marks in the busy design. all hard to see but mentioned for accuracy. Serving merely to map its historic narrative.
Measures 72" x 64" ( 184cm x 164cm)
